As an arts educator and director, Madalene specializes in drama and musical theatre with a history of curriculum development, team leadership, and relationship-building with students to promote and cultivate arts education.

As director of Theatre Tulsa’s summer bootcamp, she had the opportunity to direct over 70 summer camp students in a double cast production of Shrek Jr. In addition to rehearsals, she engaged campers in theatre games and activities to foster creativity. The camp also featured guest speakers from the theatre industry to increase access to the arts for students around Tulsa.

Within the Tulsa community, she has contributed as assistant director for Pembroke Players' rendition of Who’s Hamlet? where the audience has the opportunity to vote nightly for the actors they prefer to portray the four primary roles in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

As a public school teacher, she created and executed weekly lesson plans for hundreds of students, covering various aspects of theatre including character development, choreography, and creative writing, while also fostering connections with the local theater community through guest speakers and resource advocacy.

After founding her school’s first Drama Club, she directed a variety of events including musicals (Shrek Jr. and High School Musical Jr.), talent shows, and community performances, while actively involving students in leadership roles which resulted in significant increases in both club membership and enrollment in fine arts electives.
